Waterfall: Fantasy after Purcell (2008)

Short piece for strings (2.2.2.2.1) based loosely of Purcell's Fantasia no.5.

And Then We Die? (2008)

Large-scale (ca 40 minutes) work for soloists (soprano, tenor, baritone), choir (SATB) and orchestra (2.2.2/4/Perc/Keyboard/solo vn. va. vc/4.4.2.2.2), using texts by Donne, Swinburne, Tagore and Sara Teasdale, plus extracts from the Requiem Mass

Sharpeville (2006)

Work for Viola and String Orchestra. First performed on 1 December 2006 by Helen Temperley (Viola), University of Manchester String Orchestra conducted by Charlotte Turner.

Love's Philosophy (2006)

Setting of Shelley for a capella choir. First performance given on 28 July 2006 by Keele Bach Choir, conducted by the composer. Also performed by Keele Bach Choir conducted by Matthew Willis on 2 June 2007.

The Reality of the Unseen (2005 - 2006)

Work Clarinet, Violin, Viola, Piano. First performance given by Psappha on 24 March 2006.

Endlessly Rocking (2005 - 2006)

Setting of Walt Whitman for solo soprano, organ and choir. First performance given on 10 June 2006 by Natalie Windsor (soprano) and the Keele Bach Choir, conducted by Matthew Willis.

Meditations on Snow (2004)

Setting of various poets on snowy themes, for mezzo, semichorus of solo voices, chamber orch. (fl. ob. cl. hn. perc. pf/cel. 2vn. va. vc. db.) and choir. First performed by Karen Radcliffe, Stoke-on-Trent Chamber Orch. and Keele Bach Choir, conducted by Matthew Willis (December 2004).

Diapsalmata (2003 - 2004) music file

Work (after Kierkegaard) for violin and cimbalom. First performed by Psappha (David Routledge and Tim Williams) in March 2004. Subsequently performed by Psappha in London (BMIC concert December 2006)) and broadcast on Radio 3.

Work (after Dylan Thomas) for saxophone quartet (shortlisted by spnm). Introduced at workshop by Apollo Saxophone Quartet. Later rescored for chamber group (fl. ob. 2cl. bn. pf) and first performed by University of Manchester New Music Ensemble (April 2005 and September 2005))
